BADMINTON England U13, 15 & 17 Singles Grading 2008/9

The purpose of the grading system is to provide a manageable competitive circuit. Grades are not performance indicators, this is the purpose of the ranking lists. They are however designed to provide guidance to players, parents and coaches and help then plan an appropriate Individual Tournament Programme.

There continues to be three grades for the 2008/9 season; Grades 1, 2, and 3 with all other players classed as ungraded. NB. There is no grading for Under 11's.

Rankings

Badminton England regularly publishes ranking tables for all juniors playing in recognised ranking tournaments. Points are allocated depending on how well players progress in tournaments, with more senior, or higher graded tournaments attracting more points.

To get a players rankings, the EIGHT highest points are added up. If the player has played in SIX or less tournaments then the total points are divided by 6. This means that the rankings for players that have played in fewer than 6 tournaments cannot be compared directly with those that have played 6 or more tournaments.

If the player has played in SEVEN tournaments then the points are divided by 7.

If a player has played in EIGHT or more tournaments then best 8 results are summed and then divided by 8

A complete list of junior singles, doubles and mixed rankings, along with a full explanation of the points system, is available on the Badminton England website by clicking HERE.
