Herts schools badminton association are running sixteen tournaments for school children living in, or attending schools in Hertfordshire. Our aim is to give children of all abilities the opportunity to play badminton in a safe and competitive environment against youngsters of the same age, or if greater competition is needed, in the age group above. All the tournaments start with competitors being divided into groups or 'boxes' and they play everyone in their box (so there are three or four guaranteed games).

After the box rounds the two top people in the boxes go into the 'main' draw and the bottom two or three are put into the 'plate' draw. The tournaments now continue on a knockout basis. Winners and runners up in the plate events receive medals and certificates (semi finalists in the plate receive certificates). Winners in the main events receive an annual trophy plus a medal, runners up and semi-finalists receive medals and certificates.

B competitions (on 19th October 2008 and 9th November 2008), are specifically designed for school and club players with less experience, (county squad players do not play in these competitions) but those people who play in these competitions can of course also play in the other tournaments in their age group.

If you run a club or teach in a school where badminton is played who not bring along a group. It's a great way to keep fit and socialise!!!!!

Entry forms for individuals or schools/clubs, and a full list of this season's tournaments can be downloaded from the download section.
