U13 County Squad

This year the U13 Squad Managers are looking forward to the new season as they have a talented group of players and hope for some good results.

Also we are delighted to say that Natalie Munt has confirmed that she will join the Coaching Team for the 2008/09 Season. I am sure many of you know that she has regularly been in the top five in the National Rankings for level and mixed doubles and has 15 England Caps.

The Squad Training Sessions start on Wednesday, September 3 at the Herts Sports Village at 6 pm. These are for players born in 1996 or 1997 who are capable of playing at inter county level. They were chosen at Trials held in May.

Very well done to the following members of the Squad - Anna Collis, Amy George, Lyall Daniels, Isabel Hatt, David Maughan and Matthew Widdicombe - all are now Grade 1 players

Also congratulations to Cayleigh Bambrick, Renu Dhall-Chopra, Philippa English and Ellie Makewell who have become Grade 3 players.

We hope that the whole Squad will obtain Gradings by the end of the season. To do this we expect all ungraded players to play in at least 3 Bronze Tournaments during the main season and the players born in 1997 to also play in the U12 Tournaments at the end of the season

Squad Facts

• The Squad meets weekly at the Hertfordshire Sports Village 6 – 8 pm for fitness, agility and technical training.
• The Training is on six courts and uses feather shuttles
• The fees to cover Training from September through to Easter are £135. This covers the cost of courts and shuttles. The Squad Managers give their time and expertise free.
• Eligibility To be a part of this Squad a player must either live in or be at School in Hertfordshire.

County Trials

These were held in May but if you missed them and think that you are good enough to play for the County contact the Squad Manager and he will invite you for a trial.

Squad Members are expected to play in both the appropriate local HSBA Tournaments and in appropriate National Badminton England Tournaments. Successful players in the BE Tournaments gain a National Grading. This determines whether the player is eligible for the Gold, Silver or Bronze Tournaments. Ten of our Players have National gradings.
