Junior Clubs

Junior Clubs Affiliated to BADMINTON England (BE) are in bold, those in bold and italics to both BE and Herts. Schools Badminton Association, those in italics alone to HSBA but not BE. To play in HSBA leagues clubs must affiliate to BE. The insurance status of unaffiliated clubs is unknown and therefore cannot be recommended. BE accredited clubs (of all levels, currently) are also indicated.

Clubs can apply to BE to be accredited: this is for standards in Duty of Care and Child Protection, Quality of Coaching and Competition, Sports Equity Ethics and Club Management. In 2004 there were 3 accreditation levels increasing in scope: Registered, Bronze, Silver or Premier (Silver = Sport England 'Clubmark'): from 2005 only Silver is recognised by BE and Sport England. BE accredited clubs are also listed on BE and Herts. Sports Partnership websites. The Government has asked schools and Local Authorities to refer children to only those clubs that are affiliated and preferably those that are, or are working towards, Clubmark.
